History

Joint-Stock Company Atomstroyexport was established in March, 1998. Its founders were the state enterprise All-Russia Production Association “Zarubezhatomenergostroy” (VPO Zarubezhatomenergostroy) and Joint-Stock Company “Foreign Trade Association Atomenergoexport” (JSC Atomenergoexport). By 1998 VPO Zarubezhatomenergostroy and JSC Atomenergoexport cooperated more than 25 years and accumulated wide experience of the international cooperation in the field of nuclear engineering. During that period around thirty NPP units with VVER-440 and VVER-1000 reactors were constructed abroad in the countries of East Europe and Finland, the nuclear research center “Tajura” in Libya, gas centrifugal plants for  uranium enrichment in China of 1000 SWU/year total capacity.

The basic purpose of JSC Atomstroyexport establishment is merger of technologies, know-how, material and personnel resources of its founders in the sphere of construction of nuclear power plants abroad.

VPO Zarubezhatomenergostroy and JSC Atomenergoexport assigned to JSC Atomstroyexport the realization of some of their contracts for construction of nuclear power plants in China, India and Iran concluded to implement the Intergovernmental Agreements, which had been signed in the lifetime of the USSR, and also the Intergovernmental Agreements of the Russian Federation.

In the autumn of 2006 JSC Atomstroyexport won the tender for Belene NPP construction. On January 18, 2008 the Contract Agreement was signed between the Company and the National Electric Company of the Republic of Bulgaria for construction of Belene NPP.

Units 1&2 of Tianwan NPS in China were commissioned in 2007 and are demonstrating safe and reliable operation. In 2011 the contract was signed for construction of Units 3&4 of Tianwan NPS. The commissioning work is in progress at Bushehr NPP in Iran and Kudankulam NPP Unit 1 in India.

The portfolio of JSC Atomstroyexport for short-term and mid-term prospects also includes construction of Ninh Thuan NPP –1 in Vietnam, the second phase of Kudankulam NPP in India, Akkuyu NPP in Turkey, the first NPP in Belarus, Metsamor NPP in Armenia, participation in construction of Khmelnitskaya NPP Units 3&4 and other projects.
